He supports clients through quantitative analyses of energy storage revenue forecasting, market strategy consulting, and modeling emerging technologies like green hydrogen.

Jennifer’s hydrogen journey began in 2006 at the California Fuel Cell Partnership, where she managed facility safety systems and oversaw hydrogen fueling station operations, including decommissioning.

Mary Moerlins is the Director of Environmental Policy and Corporate Responsibility at NW Natural, where she leads initiatives that advance sustainability and responsible business practices. She specializes in developing strategies that align environmental stewardship and community impact. Prior to working at NW Natural Mary spent a decade working in environmental nonprofits in Atlanta, Georgia.

Steve is an experienced energy industry leader with more than two decades of expertise in clean energy innovation, natural gas systems, and emerging technology strategy. As Puget Sound Energy’s Manager of Emerging Technology and Sustainability, he leads initiatives that accelerate decarbonization and advance next‑generation solutions across the utility’s operations.

Rebecca Smith is the Senior Director of Policy and Education at RHA. Rebecca brings nearly two decades of experience in clean energy policy, strategy, and implementation, and most recently spent seven years with the Oregon Department of Energy, where she led the state’s work on hydrogen, and also worked on renewable fuels, clean transportation, and renewable electricity markets.

Timothy Sasseen is a clean energy executive with more than 25 years of experience advancing hydrogen, fuel cell systems, and distributed energy solutions from concept through full-scale deployment. He currently leads hydrogen business development initiatives at American Honda Motor Company, where he is focused on expanding fuel cell applications into power generation and resilient energy infrastructure. Over the course of his career, Tim has worked across engineering, market development, and policy, building partnerships that connect technology innovation with real-world commercial adoption. He has played a central role in shaping hydrogen strategies across California and the broader United States, working with OEMs, public agencies, and utilities to accelerate zero-emission energy systems.

Chris, formerly the director of the Office of Economic Development & Competitiveness for the Washington Department of Commerce, where since 2015 he led international trade, business recruitment/retention and rural economic development units. Prior to Commerce, Chris served for seven years as vice president for business retention and expansion at the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County.

Mr. Wolak is the President and CEO of the Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA), the national hydrogen industry trade association with a mission to advance the commercial production, distribution and use of hydrogen in the United States and beyond.

Prior to FCHEA, Mr. Wolak was a Senior Vice President at FuelCell Energy, where he initiated and developed some of the most innovative and largest fuel cell technology deployments in the world. In addition, Mr. Wolak worked closely with the US Department of Energy, Congress and state agencies to create programs for hydrogen and fuel cells throughout the US.

Dr. Brittany Westlake is a Principal Technical Leader at EPRI. There she leads R&D and demonstration projects related to hydrogen production from electrolysis on EPRI’s Low-Carbon Resources Team. Working to understand electrolysis technology performance and the technical and economic considerations for adoption pathways and deployment on the grid. She previously worked with EPRI’s Energy Storage and Distributed Generation Program to understand battery, storage, hydrogen, and fueled distribution technology performance characteristics and the role they play in a variety of applications from stationary storage, the transportation sector, and to support the generation sector.

Vice President of Business Development and Director of Engineering for InEnTec Inc. Pablo oversees global business and customer development for the broader adoption of InEnTec’s portfolio of technologies focused primarily upon gasification. He manages the strategic assignment and deployment of InEnTec resources to expand Waste-to-X markets to decentralize, decarbonize, and derisk the chemicals, energy, and fuels industries.

Steve Szymanski is Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Nel Hydrogen, with more than 30 years of technical and business development experience in the fields of specialty chemicals and water electrolysis. In this role, he manages all sales and business development efforts in North and South America for Nel’s MW-scale projects. In addition to leading sales of Nel’s PEM and alkaline electrolyzer technology, Steve directs Nel’s international Navy submarine business segment.

Phoi is currently WSDOT's overall program lead for WAZIP, a state-wide initiative to incentivize battery and fuel cell electric vehicles and equipment. Previously, she served as a Project Officer at the U.S. Department of Energy, overseeing the Midwest Hydrogen Hub. With a combined background in heavy-duty trucking, refining, and ammonia production, Phoi strongly supports the value proposition of hydrogen.

Gary Ivory has an Accounting Degree and an MBA from Washington State University. He worked for the Washington State Auditor’s Office before joining Douglas PUD in 1997. He worked as the District’s Chief Accountant, Auditor and Treasurer before being named General Manager in July 2017.

Originally from Tarragona, Spain, Dr. Juan Alberto Lopez-Ruiz holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia. In 2015, he joined the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and became a full-staff member in the Advanced Energy Systems Group in 2017.

April Sims (she/her) was elected President of the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO in October 2022 and was sworn in to begin her four-year term in January 2023. She is the first woman to be elected WSLC president and the first Black woman elected to the presidency of an AFL-CIO state federation. As President, Sims leads Washington’s largest union organization representing more than half a million union members and supervises all of its activities and staff.

Andrew Martinez is a senior advisor on zero emission infrastructure at the California Air Resources Board. In this role, Andrew focuses on collaborative efforts with other State government agencies, local agencies, the federal government, and other private and public stakeholders to ensure that electric charging and hydrogen fueling infrastructure will not present a barrier to the state’s zero-emission vehicle and equipment deployment goals. Andrew has been with the California Air Resources Board for twelve years and previously supervised the light-duty zero-emission infrastructure section.

Jonathon has over 25 years of experience in maintenance support and previously held leadership roles in both government and utility organizations. He joined Intercity Transit in 2019 as the Director of Maintenance for Fleet and Facilities and is currently leading the agency’s effort to transition to a zero-emissions fleet. Jonathon is interested in helping to influence policy, practice, safety standards, and fleet adoption of best-fit technology, including hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. By doing so, contributing to the generational shift of how the country provides public transportation while reducing emissions.

With more than 25 years in the transportation industry, Joe Clark brings deep expertise in emerging technologies, renewable and traditional energy solutions, and strategic leadership across both government and transportation sectors. His career includes leading capital facility master planning, operational system development, grant funding strategies, and organizational performance initiatives for public-sector agencies around the world. As Executive Director of a nationally recognized transit agency, he is currently guiding a bold sustainability strategy that positions the organization to operate the state’s first fully renewable transportation fleet, integrating electrification, hydrogen generation, and fueling infrastructure to advance a cleaner, more resilient future.

Mike Poirier was elected Mayor of the City of Wenatchee in the 2023 general election. He began his term as Mayor on January 1, 2024. He previously served on the Wenatchee City Council from 2016-2019 and 2022-2023.

Before becoming Mayor, he served as the President of CPW Insurance. He had a career of 28 years in the insurance industry before retiring in 2024. He and his wife, Maureen (a retired educator), have been married for 37 years and have three daughters (two are educators for Wenatchee area schools and one is working towards an engineering degree) and three grandchildren

Jerrilea Crawford was elected Mayor of the City of East Wenatchee in 2019 and began her term as Mayor in January 2020 and was reelected in 2024. Before becoming mayor, she served on the city council for three years.

Mayor Crawford has over 20 years of experience in community leadership roles such as Deputy Director of the Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce, facilitator for Community Leadership Wenatchee Valley (graduating over 300 students), numerous boards of director positions, and many volunteer activities.

Parker has over a decade of experience working at the intersection of climate solutions, education, and workforce development. He has directed nationwide programming focused on generating pathways, learning experiences, and industry partnerships for emerging talent to access opportunities in the clean energy economy, primarily through his ten years at the Bonneville Environmental Foundation.

Jason Munster (Jay) is the founder and principal at Cleanepic Advising, a consultancy focused on hydrogen and related clean energy. His background includes managing the US DOE commercial, financial, lifecycle, and techno-economic analysis of the Hydrogen Hubs program and other demonstration programs at the US DOE, as well as global roles in clean energy strategy and energy finance. He will be speaking on opportunities from cost learning in electrolysis.

Alex is the ranking member of the Postsecondary Education and Workforce Committee, the assistant ranking member of the Labor and Workplace Standards Committee, and also serves on the Environment and Energy Committee. Although deeply committed to civil debate and willing to work across the aisle, he remains true to his conservative roots.

Rep. Beth Doglio represents the 22nd District in the Washington State Legislature. She serves as the Chair of the House Environment & Energy Committee. As a legislator she has been engaged in the full suite of climate legislation enacted in Washington, helping to pass the initial policies and now working to implement them. She has worked at Climate Solutions for 20 years, a Northwest-based clean energy nonprofit. In addition, she served as the first Executive Director of Washington Conservation Voters and worked for Pro-Choice Washington, Audubon Washington, and Seattle Public Utilities

Joel Orum, P.Eng., PMP is an Engineering Manager at Powertech Labs, working in hydrogen infrastructure development to support the advancement of clean energy systems. With over 25 years of experience in advanced hardware and technology programs, he leads multidisciplinary teams delivering complex engineering solutions from concept through deployment. Joel specializes in scaling innovative technologies into reliable, real-world applications, with a focus on operational excellence, manufacturing readiness, and long-term energy transition strategies.

Andrew Carman is the Co-Founder and CEO of PACC Services, a producer services company focused on helping hydrogen producers commercialize supply, secure offtake, and navigate evolving market opportunities. With more than 15 years of experience in hydrogen, Andrew has held leadership roles at Linde, Nikola Motor Company, and Uniper, where he developed hydrogen supply strategies, infrastructure solutions, and commercial partnerships across North America.

Jennifer has 30 years of legislative and government relations experience. She served as staff counsel to the Senate and House Transportation Committees, the Government Relations Director for the Washington State Department of Transportation, and Governor Christine Gregoire’s Transportation Policy Advisor. She is the owner of Jennifer Ziegler Public Affairs. Current clients include Toyota Motor of North America, Kaiser Aluminum, Les Schwab, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Washington, and the Washington Roundtable.

Mike is currently serving as the Interim Director of the City of Portland’s Bureau of Fleet and Facilities, following seven years as the City’s Fleet Director. He has 20 years of leadership experience in municipal and utility fleet, facility, and public works operations. His work supports Portland’s drive toward net zero emissions by 2050. Building on Portland’s success in advancing battery electric vehicles and equipment, he is now focused on the strategic integration of renewable hydrogen fuel cell technologies across the city’s diverse fleet.

Jim Park is the senior vice president of commercial vehicle and hydrogen business development at Hyundai Motor North America. Park is responsible for Hyundai’s hydrogen initiatives in North America, which include commercial vehicle sales, infrastructure development, commercialization of hydrogen, and related future mobility solutions. He joined Hyundai in June 2023.

Mike Pati is President of Papé Properties, Inc. and Vice President of Pacific Clean Fuels, Inc., and has over 30 years experience in the capital equipment and transportation industries focused on real estate and infrastructure development. Mike and the Pacific Clean Fuels organization work closely with jurisdictional, agency, and technical partners throughout the West coast to address the complex policy and regulatory challenges facing development of hydrogen infrastructure projects. The goal is to build an ecosystem of production, distribution, and fueling locations to serve heavy equipment markets including on-road trucking, off-road construction, agriculture, forestry, material handling, and underground construction in the journey towards zero emission vehicles and the energy transition.

Jon brings extensive experience protecting the environment and shaping environmental and climate policy.

He served as Director of the Department of Environmental Protection for Montgomery County, Maryland. Jon also served as Assistant Deputy Administrator at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under President Joe Biden.

George Bailey is the CEO of St. Regis Solar Hydrogen (SRSH2) in St. Regis, Montana.

SRSH2 is a member of the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub (PNWH2) and is dedicated to helping Montana and the Pacific Northwest participate in the emerging hydrogen economy.

Laura Gonzalez is Vice President of Engineering at Apricus Energy Partners, where she leads technical strategy and project development for clean hydrogen, renewable power integration, and resilient energy infrastructure. She is a licensed Professional Chemical Engineer in Washington and California, with 20 years of experience across refining, petrochemicals, and renewable energy. Her work spans feasibility studies, technoeconomic analysis, process design, and execution planning for projects advancing industrial decarbonization.

Angela Das is the Chief Technology Officer at Hyfluence Systems Corp. with 25 years of experience in hydrogen fueling infrastructure. She has played a key role in advancing the industry, contributing to hydrogen standards development and leading the design and execution of over 25 hydrogen projects across North America and internationally. Career highlights include her lead role in designing one of the world’s first 700-bar hydrogen fueling stations in 2003 and pioneering self-contained, integrated hydrogen fueling systems. Sashe Annett serves as Director of the Northeast Hydrogen Alliance, working to align regional stakeholders around expansion of hydrogen production, end use and refueling infrastructure across the Northeast region. She has a consultancy focused on developing hydrogen mobility projects. She also founded Powered by Hydrogen, a nonprofit advancing the critical role of hydrogen in the energy transition through education, outreach and legislative advocacy.

Clare Frederick is a partner at K&L Gates focused on providing intellectual property counseling and portfolio management services. She works with companies ranging in size from startups to multi-national corporations to develop comprehensive IP strategies, providing global management of domestic and foreign patent portfolios as well as performing patentability and infringement analyses and negotiating licenses. With engineering experience in water resources, solid waste management, and water treatment plant design, she has developed an expertise in environmentally-related technologies, including hydrogen production technologies, power management systems, and natural gas processing and carbon capture systems.
